Markus Stockhausen & Florian Weber Inside Out performing at the Royal Welsh College
Markus Stockhausen – trumpet & flugelhorn, Florian Weber – piano
Markus Stockhausen, one of the leading trumpeters of our time, and pianist Florian Weber, prize winning star of the German jazz scene, create an inspirational mix of jazz, with classical influences and free intuitive playing.
Both are classically-trained performers deeply interested in the process of creative expression: of looking INSIDE and OUT, with intensity at things, for echoes, resonances – insights.
Yet the colour mix of their music is wonderfully wide, ranging from buoyancy and joyous abandon, to limpidity and floating beauty. At times their lines blur imperceptibly between composition and improvisation, finely distilling the two. Fiery bursts alternate with playful melodies and luminous sound-fields, to make their concerts an unforgettable experience.
Double bill with:
Elliot Galvin piano, kalimba, melodicas, accordion, cassette player and stylophone
Tom McCredie double bass
Corrie Dick drums, percussion and glockenspiel
Elliot Galvin is one of the rising stars of UK jazz. A superbly gifted composer and pianist with a maverick imagination and magpie like ability to blend a disparate world of influences into his own unique musical vision.
