Project: Duo Stockhausen-Héral
New: The Duo-Project Markus Stockhausen and Patrice Héral (France). The unorthodox percussionist Patrice Héral, who can create a perfect performance with nothing more than a door, has performed with Bobby McFerrin, Etta Scollo, Nguyên Lê, Renaud Garcia-Fons, Wolfgang Puschnig, Dhafer Youssef, Antonello Salis, Paolo Fresu, Tom Cora, Iva Bittová, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Michel Portal, Chano Domínguez, Charlie Mariano, Ferenc Snétberger, Steve Swallow, Ralph Towner, John Taylor and others. He is one of the most versatile, creative and funny percussionists in Europe. Stockhausen has long wanted to start a Duo-project with him.
Héral und Stockhausen have played together in various projects since the 1990s, often resulting in inspired work by both players. Examples can be heard in Stockhausen's discography, but not yet as a duo. For example: on Electric Treasures (Aktivraum) – together with Vladyslav Sendecki and Arild Andersen, on the CD Symphonic Colours – together with Arild Andersen and the German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra of Saarbrücken-Kaiserlslautern (note especially the drum solo in the track "Sehnsucht"), in the quartet Joyosa (Enja) with Ferenc Snètberger and Arild Andersen, and before that in the project Kartà (ECM) with Terje Rypdal and Arild Andersen.
We can expect lively and lusty performances from these two versatile, creative and well acquainted artists. A very promising combination: masterful ability, humorous interaction, genre-breaking pleasure in performing.
